From 2013 to 2023, Esprit Motors was a licensed and bonded used car dealer in the state of Oregon. We have loved helping hundreds of families find a safe, reliable used car.
In 2023, we transitioned to:
- Pre-purchase inspections on used cars in the Portland metro area;
- Auto brokerage / car consulting services; and
- Developing new automotive products.
Our goal remains to always be transparent, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Please check out these recommendations from past customers.

About Ian Lomax, MBA:
Ian handles all things car related: he is our customers’ point person for pre-purchase inspections, auto brokerage, and car consulting. He has been buying, selling and restoring cars since he was in high school and knows how to spot a solid car and avoid a potential money pit. While he loves having a job that lets him work around cars all day, he truly enjoys helping people get a good deal and demystifying the complex process of buying and maintaining a used car. Prior to starting Esprit Motors in 2013, he was an automotive engineer, a marketing manager for a large technology company, and ran an online business. He has a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. He currently drives a 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV6 that is the envy of every 12-year-old boy in the neighborhood.
About Kim Lomax, MPA:
Kim handles all things related to running the business: financial management, operations, marketing and social media, and the rest. After being a used car dealer for nearly 10 years, she prefers Esprit Motors version 2.0 and helping customers to make sense of the sometimes tricky, sometimes exhausting, always interesting process of finding, inspecting, and purchasing a new car. She is happy to help translate “car person speak” to normal language, ask questions, get to the bottom of sticky situations, and make sure that customers know what they are getting and are happy with the outcome. Over the years, Kim has worked as an amusement park ride operator, nonprofit fundraiser, English as a Foreign Language instructor, and online business owner. While cars are great, Kim is happiest on one of her bikes.
