In December 2018, Esprit Motors celebrates five years in business as a used car dealer focused on reconditioned Subarus in Portland, OR. We (Kim and Ian) would like to take a minute to reflect on this experience and the many friends and colleagues that helped us get here.
With the start of the new year (2018), Oregon DMV fees increased. These fees are determined by the DMV — not us — and are in addition to the price of the car. When you are purchasing a car from us, we are happy to explain all of the fees and write them out for you. Many customers are also able to roll the fees due into the loan amount, if you are financing a car.
Continue ReadingLast week we purchased a Subaru for a customer. She needed to buy a car immediately and since we did not have enough time to buy her one through a dealer-only auction, Ian immediately went to work scouring Craigslist.
Buying a Subaru in Portland is a tricky task. They are very popular here and when they do pop up at dealer-only wholesale auctions, they tend to sell for around 30% over the Blue Book wholesale value! We had a hunch that was because most sellers know that Subarus are in demand here in Portland and therefore opt to sell their Subaru privately rather than trade it in. However, experiencing the private party sale of a Subaru in Portland was eye-opening.
Continue ReadingWe recently attended a Rollin’ Oldies Vintage Trailer (ROVT) rally at Fort Stevens State Park in northeastern Oregon. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to bring our Streamline Countess with us or stay for the entire weekend, but we did make it to the meet-and-greet trailer tour on Saturday morning. (Yes, we drove out there just to walk around for an hour and a half — that is a sign of a serious vintage trailer addiction!) Many thanks to the ROVT crew for humoring us with our questions and two small girls oohing and ahhing over everything. Here are some of the fun trailers that we saw at the rally.
